- Enclosed stairwells:

- Stairwell pressurization:
Required in high-rise buildings (75+ feet) to prevent smoke infiltration
- Re-entry:
Exit stairway doors must allow re-entry to floors per Local Law 5 of 1973 requirements
- Roof access:
At least one stairway must extend to the roof in buildings with flat roofs
